I noticed her slobbering a lot yesterday and she wasn't eating or drinking. Well the other day she got out of our pasture and into the 1000 acre beef cattle ranch behind us. The rancher was gracious enough to catch her and bring her home but she was out there 2 or 3 days. Anyhow, she still wasn't eating this morning, so i called a Vet & he said maybe she had something in her mouth and told me to look inside. When I did this I found that part of her tongue was missing! I can't believe it. I can't imagine how it could've happened. Maybe the rancher was too rough & made her bite it off?? Could she have been kicked and bit her tongue off? Is there some disease that can cause this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, any suggestions on force feeding a cow would be great!

Feeding

I'm not an expert on Zebu feeding, but as a general rule when you don't have sufficient grass available supplemental feeding is necessary. If you are providing free choice qood quality hay and providing range cubes you should be fine. You might also consider a mineral block and/or a mineral supplement specifally created for cattle. You should be able to ask your local feed supply what they recommend.

Good luck with your new Zebus and thank you for joining our Zebu forum!

Feeding

I am new to the Zebu business. I just cleared my land and currently have no grass for the zebu to graze. What and how much should I feed them? Right now we have them on hay and sweet cubes. Is that enough?

I'd appreciate any advice on this topic. Thank you!

I have not had a great response and now I was told by a woman I just sold a Mini Zebu yearling bull calf to that there is actually a group working to put together a Canadian association/registry??? Anyone know any of the people involved... I would love to contribute my membership support!! I have owned these little cattle for about 6 years now. I love them and hope we do get a registry up here in Canada. I do appreciate the registries in the US and all their efforts on behalf of the breed. I hope that the organizers of whatever effort is out there will try to work with the existing registries.

If Obama is elected this country (and probably the world) will be headed straight to he-- and if Hillary wins taxes are going to go through the roof and we will dishonor all the young men and women who fought and died in Iraq for something that they believed in.

I am NOT a democrat

But if I was, there is no way that I would vote for Obama - the man is a snake. He lies (gee I've been a congregation member but I never listened - yeah right), he steals (other people's speeches), he has insane ideas about guns (it is our constitutional right to bear arms). So if you are a democrat, either switch sides and vote for McCain (who is not as conservative as I would like) or bit the bullet and vote for Hillary (personally I'd take McCain anyday - with a democrat our taxes are going to SKYROCKET!).

Canada Miniature Zebu Association

The Canada Miniature Zebu Association offers FREE membership and that association is aimed at everyone who takes any interest Canadian Miniature Zebu.

Florida Miniature Zebu Association

The Florida Miniature Zebu Association is the perfect zebu association for all Florida Miniature Zebu owners and enthusiasts.

American Miniature Zebu Association

The American Miniature Zebu Association can be found at www.americanminiaturezebuassociation.org

They allow members to advertise their zebu for sale for free for 4 months. Non-members are charged $20 per month to advertise zebu for sale.

So if you're a member, here's an idea - if you don't have a website you could advertise on their site as well as ours and instead of putting your email address on their site for spammers to get, you could link to your ad on our site and then people could use the reply to ad feature.

If you're not a member of AMZA, rather than pay to advertise on their site you can advertise as many zebu for sale (or other livestock/farm related items for sale) on our site as you want for FREE.

International Miniature Zebu Association

The International Miniature Zebu Association states that they are the oldest and largest registry of miniature zebu cattle. Their website is located at http://www.imza.name/. Only members of that registry are allowed to advertise zebu for sale and they require that your e-mail be listed (which email spammers love).

However, on our site you can place as many ads as you want, for FREE and it is up to you what information you provide and you can even link to your website if you have one. Plus you can include two pictures and we provide an email service that keeps your email address hidden from spammers yet allows people interested in your zebu for sale to contact you!
